-
Bluebottle
- This site provides a solid free e-mail service with 250MB storage
space and integrated spam (junk mail) filtering. Using Bluebottle,
you can access your e-mails either via a Web browser, by IMAP, or by
POP3 (using any e-mail client you choose). Along with these advanced
functions, Bluebottle also allows you to manage folders and set up
address verification lists.
-
Gawab.com
- Offers free Web-based e-mail accounts with POP3 access and SMTP
support. 15MB of storage space is included here, as well as virus
scanning and spam filtering options. Users can view Gawab.com in a
choice of eight different languages and also choose from twelve
different "themes" for their inbox. Addresses provided
are: @gawab.com, @alex4all.com, @alexandria.cc.
-
HotPOP
- A quality e-mail service should have numerous domain names,
forwarding, attachment support and POP access. You soon realise,
however, that this usually costs the Earth and technical support is
extremely hard to reach. HotPop.com solves this problem by giving
all this away for free and best of all, support and help is easy to
reach should you have trouble setting up an account.
-
FreePop3.net
- A no-frills but fairly solid free e-mail service provider.
Registering with FreePop3.net entitles you to 20MB of e-mail space,
which can be used via either POP3 or a Web-based interface. As an
added bonus, this service also provides free anti-spam and
anti-virus protection, free of charge. Signing up for an account
here takes literally seconds. Just follow the "Register"
link.
Note: FreePop3.net is not currently accepting
new registrations.
-
SoftHome
- SoftHome is one of the more popular providers of completely free
POP-based accounts and although their site is far from pretty, they
do provide a solid and reliable service. If you register here, your
e-mail address at SoftHome will be: yourusername@softhome.net and
servers: pop.SoftHome.net / smtp.SoftHome.net, where you can
substitute SMTP for your ISP's server.
Note:
unfortunately SoftHome will no longer be offering a POP service on
their "free" accounts, although Web mail access will
remain active on both "free" and "professional"
accounts.
-
MyRealBox
- "The free e-mail service that's loaded with
benefits" is what MyRealBox claims to be. On visiting this site
for the first time, we were extremely impressed with their clean
design and range of features offered; particularly the ability to
access your inbox directly from the Web and through your favourite
POP or IMAP email program. It's certainly one of the best free
services we've seen.
Note: MyRealBox is currently not accepting any
new sign-ups.
-
MailandNews.com
- Classy site that provides a completely free (and fully functional)
POP3 e-mail service that is reliable and fairly fast as well.
Multilingual language options are available, plus they allow you to
access newsgroups and view/reply to your e-mail via touch-tone
telephones. Note: you may use virtually any e-mail client that
resembles Netscape Mail, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.
Note: this site
is currently offline.
