• 3D Desktops UK - An interactive Web site featuring a wide range of free desktop wallpapers in various categories, including: abstract, oceans, sunsets, sunrises, 3D wallpaper, mobile phone wallpapers, etc. 3D Desktops UK allows users to rate each wallpaper, with the most popular being placed in a dedicated "Top Rated" category. To access the site areas, a free and simple membership registration is required.

• Moodflow - Offers a truly mesmerizing collection of free desktop wallpaper images, featuring "as imagined" scenes of distant worlds. To access these wallpapers, follow the "Wallpapers" link on their home page. Most of the wallpapers are 1024x768 or 1600x1200 pixels in size. In addition to wallpapers, Moodflow also offers a small collection of free inspirational MP3s. Please note that Moodflow.com's content is free for personal use only.

• Free Astronomy Screensaver - At this site, you can download Robert Gregory Garfinkle's "Astronomy 2005 Screensaver". This fabulous freeware screensaver displays spellbinding images of the cosmos, all captured by NASA and numerous other space organisations. Install this program and marvel at the stars of The Pleiades, the rings of Saturn, nebulas and galaxies. Two versions are available: High Res (45MB) and Low Res (11MB).

• Download Screen Savers - An excellent site that provides a great mixture of freeware and shareware screensavers to download in numerous categories. Some of the sections you'll find here include: 3D-style screen savers, animals, cartoons, fantasy, TV, nature, cities, aeroplanes, sports, etc. The file size of each screen saver is also provided to give you an idea on the download time.

• Free WaterAid Program - It is said that most people drink too few glasses of water each day. This unique freeware application from WaterAid (a water charity) will remind you to drink more water on a daily basis. Once installed, the application sits in the background and springs into action with an alert message when you're due for another glass. You may also download a free "Drink More Water" free screensaver. (File size approx 5MB)

• Digital Wallpapers - Offers some fantastic high quality free desktop wallpapers for your computer in many categories, including: 3D and abstract, animals, cars, people, music, sport, space, movies, nature and more. At this site, you can also find some terrific free Lord of the Rings, South Park and cities and landmarks wallpapers in two popular sizes: 1024x768 and 800x600 pixels.

• Screensavers Planet - Offers a wide range of free screensavers in various categories, including 3D, Animals, Cartoons, Celebrities, Horses, Music, Space, Sports and more. On their home page, you'll find a list of popular screensavers that visitors have downloaded. Each screensaver listing includes a file size, plus downloads can also be rated according to their appearance and quality.

• Freeloader Free Screensavers - At Freeloader's site, you'll find a neat selection of high quality free screensavers. These screen savers are completely free to download and will function on all Microsoft Windows computers, although Mac users will need to select the versions made specifically for them. As well as screensavers, this site serves up some fantastic freebie games.

• Digital Car Wallpapers - This site serves up free desktop wallpapers featuring images of cars in two screen resolution sizes: 1024x768 and 800x600 pixels (currently the two most popular sizes). There are around 100 different wallpaper images here, including cars manufactured by Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Volkswagen. Digital Car Wallpapers is a regularly updated site with plenty of quality content.

• FreeSaver.com - One of the few "true" free screensaver sites on the Internet. FreeSaver.com has 16 categories containing over 1600 free screensavers for users of Microsoft Windows. And, unlike most screensaver sites claiming to be "free", FreeSaver.com only offers freeware screensavers that have been checked for viruses, spyware and adware. This site also features a screensaver section dedicated to Mac users, and a nifty search feature.

• Desktoplinks.com - A well-designed Web directory specialising in listing free screen savers, wallpaper, skins, desktop themes, graphics, fonts and more. Desktoplinks.com features a showcased "site of the month" and includes a growing collection of the best desktop-themed links. Webmasters can submit their own "desktop" related site to obtain additional visitors.

• Mywallpapers.de - A free desktop wallpaper site from Germany. Mywallpapers.de includes over 13,000 high quality wallpapers in various categories, e.g. anime, cars, games, military, music, sport, TV, films, etc. Here, you can also select your preferred language setting, so if your first language is English, rather than German, then you can switch it and vice versa.

• Digital Desktop Wallpaper - A well-categorised free wallpaper images gallery, containing dozens of specialist desktop wallpaper images of nature, movies and animals in two resolutions: 1024x768 and 800x600 pixels. Along with this, the "Cool Wallpaper Software" you'll find here allows users to download and manage their images more effectively.

• Wallpapers Planet - Offers tons of free and high quality desktop wallpapers in many categories, including Hollywood movies, celebrities, nature, military, super models, cartoons, sports, cars, bikes and more. In order to access the library of wallpaper images at this site, you must first register, which is a completely free process. Afterwards, you can log-in and download your favourites.
